In this clip I’m in The Teachings of Don Juan — Castaneda’s four enemies of a person of knowledge.
Fear comes first. Then clarity. Then power. Knowledge starts producing results: people listen, influence shows up, money and status follow. Don Juan’s warning is that power is safest in the hands of someone who doesn’t need it. The last enemy isn’t a birthday. It’s old age as exhaustion and comfort — the quiet “I’ve done enough,” when curiosity fades and the warrior wants to rest forever.
Founder translation: the dangerous stretch isn’t the scared beginning. It’s after the first real win. You ship, customers pay, the feed works — and the temptation is to protect the status instead of keep building. Bootstrap rule: keep learning and acting until the end. In a world where time is the hunter, there isn’t room for endless doubt. There’s only time for decisions.
There’s only time for decisions.
